The National High Voltage and Large Capacity Flexible Low Frequency Transmission Project has been fully completed, and the Hangzhou 220 kV Zhongbu Frequency Converter Station has successfully started electrification

The North Star Power Transmission and Distribution Network learned that on May 6th, the Hangzhou 220kV Zhongbu frequency conversion station was successfully electrified, achieving controllable frequency conversion of AC 220V voltage level electrical quantities. At this point, the national high-voltage and large-capacity flexible low-frequency transmission project - the Hangzhou 220 kV flexible low-frequency transmission project infrastructure project - has been fully completed, entering the start-up and commissioning stage, and taking another crucial step towards the overall operation.

It is reported that flexible low-frequency transmission is an efficient AC transmission technology based on power electronics technology, which reduces the transmission frequency of 50 Hz in traditional power grids to 20 Hz. This can effectively improve the transmission capacity, distance, and efficiency of transmission lines. State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. focuses on the application prospects of flexible low-frequency transmission technology in offshore wind power transmission and high-density load areas in large cities, and takes Hangzhou as the pilot to apply high-voltage flexible low-frequency transmission technology to urban power grids nationwide.
